Maharajas’ Express – India’s first pan India luxury train is operated by the Royale Indian Rail Tours Ltd. The train has a total of 23 coaches with a passenger capacity of 84. It has five deluxe carriages each with four cabins; six Junior Suite carriages with three cabins; two Suite carriages with two cabins each and finally the Presidential Suite that occupies one entire carriage. Each carriage has a personal valet.
The dining options include two fine dining restaurants-Mayur Mahal and the Rang Mahal that can seat 42 persons in each at a time, so that everyone on board dines together. There is also a lounge called the Rajah Club with its own bar and the Safari Bar.
The unique aspects of the train, first of its kind in India, include a State-of-the-art pneumatic and hydraulic suspension system ensuring a smoother train ride; Individual climate control in each passenger cabin; direct dial facilities, live television with 14 channels, environment friendly toilets and most spacious passenger cabins across all categories.
It commenced operation in March 2010 and was recently voted by CNBC AWAAZ as the Best Luxury Train in India.
