Travel to Oman

Oman Air operates a daily non-stop service from Gatwick. The flight time is approximately 7 hours.

British Airways operates a daily service from Heathrow Terminal 4 via Abu Dhabi.

Etihad operates a daily service from Heathrow via Abu Dhabi.

Oman - Climate

The best time to visit Oman is from September until April after which the temperatures and humidity rise sharply. Temperatures in the Interior are both higher and lower than the averages reported for the costal areas. The temperature charts shown below are for Muscat and Salalah.

Oman - Currency

The unit of currency is Omani Rial (RO 1 = US$ 2.63), which is divided into 1000 Baizas. Notes are available in denominations of RO 50, 20, 10, 5, 1, 1/2 Rial, 250, 200 and 100 Baizas. Coins are also in use for units under one (1) Rial.

All the hotels accept credit cards.

Electricity

220-240 Volts at 50 cycles AC.

Transfers

Most of the Hotels in Muscat and Salalah are not more than a 45 minutes drive from the airport. Clients are met on arrival by The Shaw Travel Company's ground agent.

Time Zone

Oman is 4 hours ahead of G.M.T.

Visa

A visa is required by every visitor to the Sultanate. This can be obtained on arrival at Muscat Seeb Airport. An entry form needs to be completed together with Oman Rial 6 in order to have the visa stamped in the passport. Please ensure you have at least 6 months validity in the passport.

Visas can be obtained via the Embassy in London (3/5 working days). Clients who hold non UK passports are advised to check with the Embassy as to the requirement, Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman, London 020 7225 0001.
